Working with a major client on the danish market I'm very concerned with this subject. In a time where VOD, timeshifting and dgital rent is emerging how to handle the marketing of the DVDs which still is the major part of the industry. Is impulse king or branding of the movie before release. If anybody have thoughts or knowledge - please share...:)

imho, continue to offer unique features/scenes/information they can't get elsewhere, but make them even more unique/special. make them for the passionate fans. those are the ones who will then tell their friends that they *have* to go buy the DVD. and those are the people who would want to own the movie so they can watch it again and again. the casual movie fan would be more apt for a spontaneous decision, probably more price driven. but that's just a guess. nothing to base it on really. go after the passionate fans/users. let them do the work of getting more sales for you.
