Yep the plan is Sydney at the moment unless I struggle getting a job in which case I´ll head to Melbourne.

A couple of the bigger agencies in Sydney you might want to check out are:

http://www.thecampaignpalace.com.au/ - I have a couple of mates there, mostly in creative & account management but I know they use freelance planners quite a bit

http://publicismojo.com.au/ - Mojo is another decent sized one, a mate of mine is a planner there

http://www.whybintbwa.com.au/ - Whybin TBWA, I used to work there years ago, has been through a lot of change, not sure what they're like now but maybe worth a try?

http://www.theworkssydney.com/ - small independent agency, a mate of mine is about to take on the new GM role

http://www.bmf.com.au/ - BMF is doing pretty well here, winning lots of accounts, I know someone there too

http://www.hostville.com.au/ - Host is probably one of the most interesting mid sized agencies (about 90 people), they only have account management, production and planning - outsource creative to a bunch of different independent creative teams which seems to work really well. They do good work and would be one of the agencies I'd look at if I was going to get a real job. A mate of mine is a planner there too. Definitely worth a look.

Then there's agencies like - Clemenger Sydney, George Patterson Bates Sydney, Leo Burnett Sydney - don't really know anyone at those at the moment.

www.bandt.com.au is the industry news for advertising in Australia, might be worth checking that out too online.

Hi there,
I've just joined, and I know this thread is a year old, but I was really interested in the agencies you mentioned.
I've was living in Sydney for year and a half and working in advertising in account management at Adcorp. I left Adcorp because it wasn't creative enough and they refuse to move me to a more hands-on account. After that I worked for a company called The Grand Social.

I had to leave Sydney because my working Visa expired. But being back in Canada, I realize that Sydney was home and the agencies there are top of the game. I was wondering if you have any advice about getting sponsored with agencies in Sydney. I know of the agencies you mentioned above, and they are exactly the kind of agency I want to work for on the accounts side.
