hey A! Thanks for the note. The job hunt is a hunt alright, searching and searching. I don't think I have the right attack weapon; maybe I need to change my dagger up to a bow and arrow or something. :p
i did read it mate, very good indeed. i agree that there is a danger that always searching for the newest thing leaves many stones unturned with existing formats and that we never fully understand their potential because we dont know enough about how or why people use them. Plus, people only have a finite amount of time to do things so getting someone to add, for instance, a Facebook widget requires the user to percieve a tangible benefit worthy of their time. I also think that we've only uncovered about 20% of what good old fashioned display is capable of.
Thanks for the blog post. My comment that social networking is not the answer I think is still valid. It's AN answer for some brands regarding awareness and fulfilling a community need, but it's not a train to keep adding cars to. We are already inundating web 2.0 users with "join this, join that, link here, add this feed." There will always be people who are joining but is it a real solution or just something to do?
